-In memory of the individuals who died while patients at the Utah State Hospital 1885-1960, Brother
In honor of the forgotten men, women and children whose courageous and lonely battle with mental illness was never recognized in life. Their struggles came in an era when hope for recovery was never spoken. Death undoubtedly brought them freedom from their mortal pain. So be it our duty to remedy the tragedy of their forgotten lives and remember them as individuals pursuing their dreams while seeking a life of happiness and joy amidst the darkness of their trials. That we never repeat the past, their voices would admonish us to acknowledge those with mental illness today and bring a message of hope, peace and acceptance.
